Pick Your Own Sweet Cherries and Peas
Season
Early June for about three weeks

8:00am – 6:00pm – Saturday and Sunday
Picking your own sweet cherries is one of the best times ever at our orchard! Come out to see our beautiful plump, red sweet cherries, hanging on the trees, just waiting for you to pick!
We will take you to the orchard on our tractor driven wagon. We have picking buckets to use, & containers to take your cherries home in. Once in the orchard, our orchard person will get you started with some picking tips, & directions on where to start. Choose your own method of picking; either standing on solid ground, climbing the tree, or climbing ladders provided & set by our orchard people!
These sweet cherries are best eaten fresh, but can be frozen for eating the rest of the year!
Our most popular sweet cherries are -
Dark Bing Cherry - a favorite of cherry lovers, dark red, plump, very sweet juicy flavor
Queen Ann Cherry - a large, beautiful yellow cherry with a red blush; sweet flavor, an offspring of the Bing cherry
Starks Gold Cherry - a smaller, pretty, yellow cherry; excellent for canning to use in fresh fruit salads!
Pick Your Own Peas = An Added Bonus to Sweet Cherry Season
Sweet, spring garden peas are in the field ready to pick! You’ve never eaten peas as good as when you pick them directly from the vine! We provide containers for your peas and they are sold by the pound.
Pick Your Own Sour Cherries Season
Late June for about 7 – 10 Days
Hours: 8:00am – 7:00pm – Monday - Friday
8:00am – 6:00pm – Saturday and Sunday
The sour cherry season is short; so don’t miss this very useful, unique crop; grown right here at Baugher’s Orchard.
We grow the semi-sweet “Montmorency” cherries that are excellent for baking pies, making jam, & cooking in many desserts. These cherries are available to either pick your own in our orchard, or purchase by the bucket in our market. Cherries are easy to pick at Baugher’s; we have field men ready to show you a good spot to pick & set ladders for you!
We can wash & pit the cherries for you, if you like, free of charge right here in our market while you wait (only takes minutes), with our commercial pitting machine. It’s free, fast, & fun to watch, making it a breeze to freeze these cherries for later use. (It’s easier if you take the pits out before you freeze them!)
We have lots of canning & freezing supplies sold in our market to help you preserve your cherries!
Tart cherries have very good nutritional value, containing fiber, beta carotene, potassium, & antioxidants. Cherries are known for their health benefits in joint & cardio vascular function. They also contain many beneficial vitamins & nutrients.
